On Oct.27, the second annual Friends of Airedales dinner was held in conjunction with the Tradex dog show in Abbotsford, BC. You can see the happy diners in the photo above. A silent auction was held following the dinner. Featured were many splendid Airedale items which were snapped up very quickly. As a result over $500 was raised for AireCanada rescue.
It was a great week to be a dog lover here on the west coast of Canada. Many of the dinner guests also visited the dog show to admire the Airedales. Below you can see AireCanada volunteer, Margaret Glass, and Airedale owner, Heather Wittrock, admiring Joanne Helm’s lovely boy, Curteis.
AireCanada member Elaine Hu’s girl, Sunshade proved to be handy at collecting her own treats at the various seller’s booths:

Please plan to attend the third annual Friends of Airedales dinner to be held next year during the Tradex show. Rescuers, breeders, Airedale owners and everyone who loves the breed will be very welcome.
Many thanks to Elaine Hu for providing the photographs used in this posting.
We’re forming a new Committee to help run this wonderful event here in Toronto this summer. Volunteers can help with registration table, setting up the food/BBQ station, gathering prizes and setting up the silent auction and more–many hands would make light work and ensure a fantastic day.
If you are in the Toronto area and can help, please contact us with your availability and prefered volunteer role: firstname.lastname@example.org
Event tentatively set for May 2011.

In conjunction with the Lower Mainland Dog Show, held last week in Abbotsford, breeder Joanne Helm with some assistance from AireCanada Treasurer Jim, organized a dinner for Airedale lovers. In attendance were breeders, AireCanada rescue workers and people who simply love Airedales. Everyone had a wonderful time as you can see from the photos below!
A highlight of the evening was a draw for a framed print, “Dale Cottage,” by well-known Airedale artist, Ann Curran.
As well, a silent auction was held with many excellent treasures available for bidders. Here are some of the items that lucky participants could choose for their bids:
Total proceeds donated to AireCanada through the raffle and silent auction were a whopping $685! This sum will go a long way towards helping rescued Airedale Terriers not only in BC but across Canada. Many, many thanks to those who provided items to be raffled or auctioned as well as to all those in attendance who bid so generously. We hope that AireDinners like this one will become a tradition here in BC each fall when the annual dog show is held. It was way too much fun not to repeat. See you next October!
