Your New Best Friend is Waiting: Meet the Stunning Sako!
Are you searching for a loyal, affectionate, and adventurous companion to share your life with? Look no further. Meet Sako, a gorgeous 53 pound, 4.5-year-old female Redline Airedale Terrier who is ready to shower her new family with love.
Sako has a remarkable gift for empathy. During an emotional moment in her foster home, when tears were shed, Sako quietly walked over, sat beside her foster parent, and gently placed a paw on their leg. She relaxed her posture, met their gaze with soft eyes, and leaned in for a hug, even offering a gentle kiss on the cheek. This spontaneous and profound act of comfort revealed the depth of her intuition and compassion—qualities that confirm she is ready to share a true heart-to-heart bond with her forever family.

Through no fault of her own, Sako’s previous owner, a senior, could no longer keep up with her energy and needs. Now thriving in a wonderful foster home in Edmonton, she is blossoming every day and showing what an amazing dog she truly is. Professional trainers have been impressed with her intelligence and willingness to learn—she even demonstrates recall from a distance while distracted. Everyone who meets her agrees: Sako is a good dog.

What Sako is Like
- A Cuddle Bug: Incredibly friendly, forms strong bonds, and loves to be with her people.
- Ready for Adventure: Loves car rides and would be a fantastic partner for exploring the great outdoors. After being an indoor dog for much of her life, she is ready for a home with a yard.
- Playful and Smart: Knows basic commands like sit and down, responds beautifully to praise, and is eager to please.
- Good with Dogs: With proper introductions, she can be curious and friendly with other dogs.

What Sako Needs in Her Forever Home
Sako is a gem, and to help her shine her brightest, she is looking for a specific type of home. Like many Airedales, she is energetic and thrives with structure, exercise, and consistent training.
- An Experienced Leader: An ideal owner will be familiar with the Airedale breed and committed to continuing her training. She can pull on leash and gets very excited when greeting people, so she needs a patient handler to help her learn good manners.
- A Home with a Heartbeat: Sako has exhibited separation-related stress and will do best in a home where someone is present more often than not. During her evaluation, she became anxious whenever left alone—whether inside the house, in the fenced yard, or briefly in a vehicle, even if her foster parent was nearby. On her first full day in foster care house soiling (urine and stool) was an issue, likely a response to being left alone, but this has not recurred. With patience, consistency, and the reassurance of her people nearby, Sako is already making progress and will continue to thrive in a supportive environment.
- A Place to Run: She would thrive in a home with a securely fenced yard where she can safely expend her energy.
- Potential Dog Companions: She could potentially live with one or two other calm, confident dogs of a similar age. Due to her excitability, a home without cats is recommended for now.
Health
Sako has an inguinal hernia that will be repaired during her spay surgery in the coming weeks. Otherwise, she is in good health.
