Toby is an 8 year old (now neutered) male who lost his home because his owner was going into long term care.
Toby doesn’t like to drink out of anything but the toilet. We have improved that by allowing him to drink out of the bathroom sink.
Toby does not like to eat kibble or raw meat however he thinks playdough is divine (much to my screaming 3 year old’s dismay)
Toby attempted to seriously injure himself by grabbing an ant trap out of the closet. (that wasn’t pretty)
Toby likes to stroll by the tables and steal something right off a plate and run for his life.
Toby supervises the building of bookshelves by lying across all the pieces daring you to move him in order to complete the job.
Toby howls and barks when he doesn’t get his way. (that is changing very quickly)
Toby shows his gratitude by grumbling and growling while wagging his tail. To a stranger he sounds like the worlds biggest attack dog.
Toby came with no toys and has now discovered the toy basket. His favourite game is dumping the toys out, throwing them, chasing them then leaving them in the rain.
Toby loves it when my daughter has a bath, he likes stealing her rubber duck. She finds this funny as long as I steal it back and throw it back in the tub to start the game all over again.
Toby loves it when the humans have a shower. I am not sure what he is thinking, but he likes sticking his head between the shower curtains and he watches the water fall into the tub.
Toby thinks things with wheels need a good barking and will chase them around and give them a stern talking to.
Toby is a sweetheart and will make someone a terrific friend. He arrived with very few manners and an “I rule this place” attitude but is learning the ropes quickly.
Toby has come a long way in three weeks. It is just amazing to see fosters let go of their past and start taking on each day with interest and peacefulness.
I love fostering!
